Photoblog : Doug & Jean Carn Reunion Concert Sisters Chapel Spelman College Atlanta Ga 9.22.2010

A few weeks ago I got a post on my facebook page from a friend of mine. The message was , my parents will be performing together at Sisters Chapel at Spelman College on the 22nd of September. I was like WHAT !!!!! Now my friend , her name is Jeannie, her parents are the Legendary artists from the Black Jazz Records label Doug & Jean Carn. Alot of people know about Jean Carn and her sucessfull solo career on Philly International Records, and the work she has done with Norman Connors . But most people do not know about the work that she and then husband Doug did on Black Jazz Records . All of those early Black Jazz Records were classics, but the one album that always stands out is Infant Eyes. Doug & Jean Carn have not performed together in over 35 years, so this was a very special night . The event was hosted by Spelman College's department of music . The band was Doug Carn on piano, Jean Carn on vocals, George Harper Jr on tenor saxophone , Rashaan Carter on bass and Russell Carter on drums. Geoge Harper Jr was one of the original muscians from the Infant Eyes album. The band opened up with Passion Dance and at that moment the large crowd was taken back to the early 1970's . Then Jean came on and did Welcome, and then Little B's Poem. The higlight of the evening is when Doug & Jean did the Titile song Infant Eyes, and at the end of the song Jean acknowledged their three children. It was definitely a magical moment that evening. But enough of me Lets see the pics. enjoy
